According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), bariatric surgery has been shown to be the most effective and durable treatment for obesity and its associated metabolic diseases.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of patients around the world rely on bariatric surgery as a solution for improving their life when traditional dieting and exercising has failed. In its different forms, bariatric surgery can offer individuals a safe, effective approach to transform their lives and achieve their wellness and happiness goals.
Laparascopic vertical gastric sleeve
This is a less invasive and the most affordable form of bariatric surgery. Is a restrictive procedure that helps patients lose weight in two ways: first, by removing 70% to 80% of the stomach, thereby reducing capacity and limiting and restricting the amount of food and thus the calories a patient can ingest; second, by controlling hunger and appetite, since the portion of the stomach removed carries the glands that produced Ghrelin, the hunger hormone.

Therefore, with this option, patients experience a drop in cravings and better appetite control.
Laparascopic bypass (a.k.a. ROUX-EN-Y)
With the creation of a gastric pouch the size of a tangerine, patients restrict their intake and experience satiety with much smaller quantities of food, and therefore fewer calories. This pouch is then connected to the middle part of the small intestine, bypassing the stomach and the first part of the small intestine where many calories from fats and sugars are absorbed, thereby also creating a malabsorption mechanism.
Laparoscopic mini bypass
Although this procedure is still not approved in the United States, it’s the surgery of choice elsewhere for patients who cannot undergo full bypass either due to the complexity of their surgery or associated risk factors that won’t allow for longer surgical and anesthetic times.

It is comparable to gastric bypass in weight loss and metabolic improvement, but performed in less surgical time. It mays also be performed as an initial phase for a full laparoscopic bypass in the future.
Duodenal switch (a.k.a. Biliopancreatic diversion)

This complex procedure is reserved for the most skilled and experienced surgeons. It is an irreversible restrictive and malabsorption surgery that is typically best for patients who have severe metabolic conditions or who need to lose extreme amounts of weight. It is the bariatric procedure that provides a faster weight loss rate and induces weight loss regardless of patient behavior.

This surgery is a combination of a vertical gastric sleeve and a gastric bypass, making it the method that bypasses more small intestine that any other.

Single port laparoscopic access surgery
This surgical approach consists in using only one incision to perform a laparoscopic gastric sleeve. It can be performed only by the most skilled surgeons in patients with a BMI of 45 or lower. The incision made in in the navel will not be visible even when patients loose weight.
Intraoperative safe closure leak test and Postoperative leak contrast test
Would you believe SOME SURGEONS DO NOT PERFORM a routine leak test during surgery or a routine contrast test in the early postoperative period? According to a recent study published by the Obesity Surgery Journal on November 2019 (epub ahead of print), only 65% of the surgeons surveyed around the globe perform a routine intraoperative leak test, while only 25% of them perform a routine X-ray contrast in the early postoperative period.

SAFETY is always a top priority with NUBARICS®. Our chief surgeons perform two safety leak tests on every patient as an additional safeguard and to provide you peace of mind.
Revision of failed bariatric surgeries
Even a patient with an appropriate weight loss may consider revision and conversion; it may be case of patients suffering from reflux or heartburn after their first surgery.
NUBARICS® offers patients who have had previous bariatric procedure the opportunity for improved results and a more complete protocol that will can serve them well for life. Let us provide you a fresh start that includes nutrigenomic and genetic decoding, customized supplementation and an innovative follow-up program aimed to help you keep the weight off after a second surgery.
You may be a candidate for laparoscopic conversion of:
• Gastric Band to Gastric Sleeve, Bypass or Mini Bypass.
• Gastric Sleeve to Gastric ByPass or Mini ByPass.
• Gastric ByPass to Duodenal Switch.
Every surgery revision request is meticulously evaluated by a NUBARICS® surgeon, who will let you know what you can expect and how you can achieve optimum results.

Expected results
For some people, losing weight is about being in better physical shape. For others, it is the key to managing metabolic diseases.
Documented average weight loss after surgery
Although duodenal switch promotes faster weight loss and control of diabetes during the first months after surgery, long-term weight loss results are similar with every procedure.

According to research results published by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), patients may lose as much as 60% of their excess weight six months after surgery, and 77% of excess as early as 12 months after surgery.

Benefits of weight loss and metabolic surgery on mortality
Mortality rate reduction:
  • Cancer: 60%
  • Coronary artery disease: 56%
  • Type 2 diabetes: 92%
  • Overall mortality reduction in gastric bypass patients: 40%

Weight loss and metabolic improvement after surgery varies across patients and depends on a number of factors, including weight before surgery, bariatric procedure type, age, genetic individuality, lifestyle changes and discipline to follow guidelines provided by NUBARICS® and its healthcare professionals.
What else can you do to enhance your results after surgery?
It’s true! You can improve your results by choosing to follow a healthier lifestyle after your bariatric procedure. Average patients get average results; outstanding patients—those who commit to raising the “lifestyle bar” for themselves— can expect a much greater and longer lasting outcome.

Patients who achieve superior results are those who:
  • Adhere to NUBARICS® suggestions.
  • Pay attention to their genetic test results.
  • Take their supplements, daily.
  • Think long term.
  • Include health in their life goals.
  • Say good-bye to addictions                  and attachments.
  • Choose healthy food.
  • Exercise to burn 1000 calories each week.
  • Sleep 7 to 9 hours each night.
  • Continue medical treatments until their doctor advises otherwise.
  • Hydrate.
  • Have a positive mindset.
  • Seek out fun activities.
  • Choose to be happy
